Building a Conglomerate in Another World

Chapter 52: Setting up the Pavilion

Chapter 52: Setting up the Pavilion

The train pulled into Paris with the morning sun casting a golden glow over the city. The station was alive with the sounds of bustling activity—steam hissing from engines, carts rattling across the platform, and workers calling out instructions. Matthew leaned out of the train window, his eyes scanning the vibrant cityscape. This was it—the heart of the Francois Republic and the stage for the World’s Fair.

As the train slowed to a stop, a man in a neatly pressed uniform approached the railcar. His posture was straight, and he carried an air of efficiency that immediately caught Matthew’s attention. He tipped his hat and introduced himself as Jules Durant, a representative of the World’s Fair staff.

"Good morning, gentlemen and lady," Jules greeted with a polite smile. "I trust your journey was smooth?"

Charles stepped forward, returning the greeting. "Indeed it was, Mr. Durant. Thank you for meeting us."

Jules nodded, his sharp eyes moving to the cargo. "I understand you’ve brought something extraordinary to showcase. Shall we proceed to your designated pavilion?"

Matthew stepped down from the railcar, extending his hand. "Matthew Hesh. Thank you for assisting us. We’ve brought several vehicles, and I’ll need to oversee their setup personally."

"Of course, Mr. Hesh," Jules replied, shaking his hand firmly. "Your pavilion has been prepared. Let’s get started."

The railcars carrying Matthew’s vehicles were carefully maneuvered into position at the unloading platform. Workers swiftly began unsecuring the sedan, the first to be unloaded. Jules watched the process with a critical eye, occasionally giving quiet instructions to ensure the vehicles were handled with care.

Matthew walked alongside the sedan as it was lowered onto a flatbed cart. "Keep it steady."

"Now what do we have here?" Durant asked.

"It’s like a carriage but without horse," Matthew said.

Jules raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "A carriage without horses? Fascinating. And all of these vehicles are similar?"

"In principle, yes," Matthew replied.

The convoy rolled into the fairgrounds, where the scale of the event became apparent. Exhibitors were setting up elaborate displays, from towering industrial machinery to intricate models of futuristic cities. The air buzzed with excitement and possibility.

The pavilion designated for Matthew’s vehicles was a sleek, modern structure with large windows that offered passersby a glimpse of the exhibits inside. Workers began carefully unloading the vehicles, placing them in their assigned positions.

The sedan was positioned at the center, its polished black exterior gleaming under the pavilion’s bright lights. To its left stood the pickup and truck, with the SUV taking a prominent spot on the right. The motorcycle was set on a raised platform near the entrance, its navy-blue finish catching the light.

Matthew oversaw every detail, directing the workers with precision. "Angle the sedan slightly to the left," he instructed. "It needs to draw the eye as soon as visitors walk in."

Amber helped with the final touches, arranging informational placards in front of each vehicle. The placards described the features, purpose, and innovations behind each design.

Jules watched the process with a keen eye. "You’re meticulous, Mr. Hesh. It’s no wonder you’ve brought something so remarkable."

Matthew glanced at him, a faint smile playing on his lips. "These vehicles are more than just machines. They’re a vision of what’s possible—a future where transportation is faster, cleaner, and more efficient."

As the workers finished setting up, the pavilion fell quiet. Matthew stood in the center, surrounded by his creations. For a moment, he allowed himself to take it all in. The months of hard work, the countless sleepless nights, the endless attention to detail—it had all led to this.

Amber approached, her expression soft but confident. "It’s perfect, Matthew. You’ve done it."

He nodded and spoke with a steady voice. "Now, we wait. Tomorrow, the doors open, and the world gets to see what we’ve built."

Charles joined them, his gaze sweeping over the pavilion. "This is your moment, Hesh. Make it count."

Matthew looked out toward the fairgrounds, where exhibitors and visitors alike were preparing for the grand opening. He took a deep breath, determination settling in his chest.

"Let’s show them a glimpse of the future. The automobiles that you invested on Mr. Fitzwilliam, is going to be on every road in every country," Matthew replied.@@@@
