Abyssal Awakening

Chapter 1066: A Clash Of Lords

Chapter 1066: A Clash Of Lords

There were four Lords on Alice’s side, including herself, who had quickly ingested a vial of Lord blood the moment the fight broke out.Karya, as the Lord of Life, immediately slammed her hands together as a radiant halo expanded above them.

Not quite a Second Resonance, but a temporary zone that allowed her to manifest more of her power.

She knew that Alice’s artifact prevented the Second Resonance from forming, which was both good and bad.

Good because it allowed them to break out of Nyer’s prison and prevented any of them from using their powerful personal realms. But at the same time, it was bad because they didn’t have access to theirs either.

So Karya decided on a workaround.

To establish a zone of control where her abilities could be pushed to the maximum while taking certain penalties if she was outside of this zone. Through this, she was able to establish something similar to a Second Resonance without it being stopped by Alice’s Ruinous Void.

From the radiant halo above, glistening golden feathers started to fall as silver links attached to each and every one of them on their side.

"Harken to the sound of the trumpets. So long as I am around, you will not die!" Karya shouted as wings unfurled behind her.

Summoning a lance, she twirled it around her body before slamming it into the ground.

*BANG!!!

Golden energy burst forth, forming a banner for them to rally under as everyone felt an energy surge through their bodies.

As the support, Karya’s greatest strength lay in the fact that she could both heal and buff!

As long as she was protected, it was not an exaggeration to say that no one would die under her watch.

"I suggest you take care of Karya first if you want this plan to succeed. Otherwise they’ll keep running at us like zombies." Theron spoke calmly as he focused on pulling the Avatar of Death into the other realm.

Everyone else had to be dealt with by the Doctor, the man-made Eldritch one, and Nyer.

"Naturally." Nyer nodded.

Void Step + Void Axis!

Setting everything up as a triggered cast, Alice shortened the preparation time as much as possible in exchange for a ridiculously steep increase in energy cost.

She could feel her body cracking under the pressure but this was no time to complain!

Her body shot through the air as she appeared above Nyer.

Flames and Void energy wrapped around her sword as she intended to destroy everything in front of her in one go!

Light warped around the blade as Alice slashed down. Arcs of energy rippled outward as the folds of space gave way to her slash. To cause friction between two realms in order to bypass any and all defences.

This was no doubt her strongest skill, inspired by Kazira’s final move!

"!!!"

Alice’s pupils constricted.

Nyer reached out slowly. His motion felt so slow yet fast at the same time. There was no worry in his actions. Merely something he needed to do. So there was no reason to overthink it.

As casually as drinking from a cup, Nyer reached out, pinched her blade out of the air, and pulled it off to the side.

Space stabilized. The rift between two realms was cut apart. The arcs of energy gathered within her weapon dispersed as her Void Axis was transformed into nothing more than a normal slash with more energy than usual.

In an instant, it lost its properties of bypassing defence and Nyer stared at her emotionlessly.

"Hou... This is quite the interesting blade." Nyer lifted the blade close to his eyes.

His strength felt undeniable as Alice tried her best to pull her weapon back but it refused to budge.

"Quite the sturdy thing. But what if I..."

Narrowing his eyes, a strange white energy covered Nyer’s fingers as it started to spread across the rest of the blade.

Before he could go further, one of the King’s guards appeared to his right.

It was the royal guard with pale green hair and a pair of emerald eyes. She had several prosthetics attached to her body.

She thrust her palm towards Nyer as a cluster of energy gathered in an instant.

Yet her surprise attack failed as Nyer countered it with a strike of equal force.

Both attacks negated one another as the impact forced them both to take a step back.

Nyer let go of Alice’s sword as she immediately retreated.

Words of gratitude could wait for later. Right now, they needed to deal with Nyer!

"Why did I bring you guys here if you’re just going to watch? If so, why do I even bother letting you two live?" Nyer spoke calmly, clearly losing interest as the second guard dropped down from above.

Dark strands of energy wrapped around his body as the mask covering the upper half of his face seemed to melt into his flesh. A transformation that merged his armour with his body.

Beneath that fur cloak, it was as though the man had become a malformed beast.

"This beastly one is mine then! You can take the leftovers, Doctor!"

*BANG!!!

Kicking the second guard away, the man-made Eldritch God grinned as his flesh started to twist and writhe before snapping apart like broken rope. A strange mixture of black ichor and mist formed his main body to the point that only a pair of unblinking eyes could be seen hovering within the darkness.

Beneath the eyes, the shadow slowly split apart to reveal a set of humanoid teeth warped into a grin.

Dropping onto all fours, he lunged after the royal guard while Nyer turned around.

The elf and Alice were about to go after him when the Doctor stepped between them.

"I suppose I’m stuck dealing with the two of you." He smiled helplessly while massaging his neck.

Alice creased her brows and exhaled softly.

She glanced down at her sword.

After Nyer held it, there were signs of fractures along the blade’s edge.

Ones that refused to heal even after trying to make Void Fang reconstruct its shape.

Rearranging the order didn’t work either. It was as though Nyer had changed the rules surrounding the blade.

To damage it on a conceptual level rather than a physical one.

Either way, using this weapon could prove dangerous as she didn’t know whether or not it would break with a single swing.

Not only that, but there was also the issue of Nyer being able to completely cancel out her Void Axis.

With his command over the Void, it seemed that her attacks harnessing the other realm might prove ineffective against him.

But with so much of her focus being dedicated to the Void, trying to find something new was going to prove to be a challenge.

"Such rudeness. To think about something else when I’m right in front of you. But what else did I expect? It’s not like you were raised with a good set of parents." The Doctor chuckled.

The elf didn’t care about the history between him and Alice. Instead, she wanted to cut down the threat in front of them immediately and focus on Nyer, who was clearly trying to do something with the Avatar of Death!

Taking a deep breath, she crouched down and her eyes shifted in an instant!

The emerald disappeared, replaced by a deep crimson that formed a spiral pattern.

Around them, energy coagulated into a strange liquid-like state, forming a tide of sorts as shadows loomed beneath the waters.

Despite being an elf, her affinity actually lay outside of the forest!

*BANG!!!

Raising her hand, a giant shadow burst out from the water around her as a massive water dragon reared its head.

Above the clouds, rain started to fall as crimson lightning crackled overhead.

The elf’s body started to transform as horns formed on her forehead. Her green hair shifted into a deep purple that faded into a light blue. When paired with her crimson eyes, her aura underwent a complete transformation.

First Resonance!

Lightning crashed down onto her body as the weapon in her hand transformed.

To Alice’s surprise, it had actually turned into a...

Fishing rod?

Pulling her hand back, the fishing rod arched before whipping forward. The silver hook crossed the gap in an instant as it coiled around and dug into the Doctor’s neck.

His mouth widened into a sick grin as his eyes locked onto the elf.

Ignoring his gaze, she flung him into the sky as the dragon surged forth, unleashing a torrent of energy with the Doctor at its centre.

A breath of destruction merged with lightning and the power of storms.

But the elf found it hard to relax.

In fact, the longer her attack lasted, the deeper her frown became.

The Doctor’s physical body felt strange.

*BANG!!!

An eruption of energy shattered the dragon’s breath and forced the hook out of his body.

Hovering in the air, the Doctor adjusted his glasses with a soft chuckle.

Something like this was far from enough to kill him.

He could fight all day and not take a single point of damage.

"How pitiful. Is this all a peak..."

Before he could even finish, the elf’s silver hook dug into his eye as his body was dragged down and slammed into the earth.

Pulling him towards her, the Lord pivoted on her heel before slamming her other foot into his jaw, launching him back into the sky.

Violet fish spawned around her as each of them lunged towards the Doctor. A vicious school of fish from an unknown species bit down and ripped his flesh to pieces.

"Not enough! Far from enough. You can’t kill me like this." The Doctor’s laugh echoed out as he grabbed one of the fish with his bare hands before bringing it to his mouth.

*CRUNCH!!!

Biting its head off, he tossed the corpse back at the Lord.

A show of provocation.
