Chapter 1152: The Saint And Magnito Show 1.
In a city not too far from Alec’s region, there was another human settlement.
“So, how did it go? Has there been any news from the small group you left behind?” the Tier 7 human lord asked, feeling that he should have been greeted first by the troops he had sent to Alec’s region with goodies.
However, not a single soldier from that unit had returned to greet him, nor had they sent anyone back with a report of their progression.
“From what I can tell, my lord, it seems they are still tied down trying to invade the Tier 6 human lord’s city that you ordered them to attack. By now, I am sure that the human lord has returned as well.’
“If you want i can send a courier warrior to deliver an order of retreat to them, so that afterward we may simply act as though we know nothing of what happened,” said the muscular hero-class warrior serving under the Tier 7 human lord, as he placed his hand across his chest as he addressed him with respect.
“Hmmm, there is no need for that, since we have already torn off the mask of deceit, we might as well see this through to the end, a small kingdom with land that fertile should be under our rule. Prepare the troops. We will march on the new human lord’s territory ourselves,” the Tier 7 human lord said.
Meanwhile, Saint and Magnito had already arrived at his city gates.
After reaching Arthur’s border, Butcher had caused quite a scene by summoning his captain-rank Tempest Elementals, who stormed across the battlefield and brought what remained of the invading army to its knees.
That was the main reason none of the warriors had been able to send any message back to their city to inform their lord about the progress of their invasion into Alec’s region.
They had all been defeated, and the only one left alive had been forced to guide Saint and Magnito.
And once they finally found the place they were looking for, they became certain this was their destination, because the same flags carried by the army Butcher and his minion golems had just massacred were now hanging proudly across the city walls before them.
With that, the usefulness of the warrior who had led them there came to an end. Magnito stretched out his hand, and an almost liquid-like metal nail shot through the air, piercing straight through the warrior’s head and killing him instantly.
The steel nail moved so fast that the man hadn’t even felt a thing.
Both Magnito and Saint were covered in tattered cloaks that concealed their features. On Saint’s back rested ten different swords, each with a distinct shape and color, the first thought anyone would have upon seeing them was that they had to be unbearably heavy, yet he carried them with ease, almost as if they weighed nothing at all.
Magnito, on the other hand, wasn’t holding any weapon.
“Stop right there! What have you two come to do in the lands of the mighty Lord Barnabas? State your purpose, because I’m certain there isn’t a single resident here who looks like either of you, so don’t even think about lying to me,” one of the two guards at the open gate shouted as he noticed the suspicious pair approaching, especially the one carrying so many weapons.
However, neither of them cared about his questions in the slightest.
“We are here specifically to kill that Lord Barnabas you mentioned. How arrogant must one be to think he could attack the region of our lord?” Saint replied, sounding completely nonchalant.
“What?!!!”
The guard who had questioned them found himself unable to process what he had just heard, he could only point at them and stammer, completely at a loss for words.
But his partner reacted faster. Realizing they were serious, he immediately turned and dashed inward with the intention of sounding the alarm that intruders had arrived.
However, before he could get far, Magnito raised his left hand, and another floating steel needle appeared above his palm. In the next instant, it flew forward and killed the guard just as easily.
At that point, the one still facing them went completely silent. From that single move alone, he could already tell he was in no way a match for the two figures standing before him.
“You see, my colleague here isn’t much of a talker. He would very much like to kill you all, but we have orders, so he is restraining himself. So as long as you play dead and stay by the side, we would pretend you never existed. However, if you try to play the hero, then you would only have yourself to blame...” Saint was still speaking when the guard decided it would be fine for him to shout.
But before he could finish, Magnito dragged his index and middle finger in a motion like he was summoning something toward himself. Instantly, the steel nail lodged in the corpse of the nearby guard flew out and shot through the throat of the one trying to scream, making him choke on his own blood.
He grabbed at his neck, desperately trying to stop the blood from pouring out from the small hole, but it didn’t matter. Magnito didn’t even let the bloodstained nail hover for long before flicking it again.
This time, it pierced straight through the guard’s head, as life left his body instantly, his eyes went dull, and he collapsed to the ground with a slight thud.
“Well, I tried,” Saint said, shaking his head.
“I still don’t get you, Saint. I know better than anyone that you’re more of a killer than I am, so I’m trying to understand why you keep acting like a kind person,” Magnito asked in his rasping voice as he turned to look at him.
“Come on now, there can’t be two bad cops, just like Master always says. I’m only trying to act nice, because the nicer I act, the weaker they think I am, and the more they resist. The more they resist, the more violent we can get and wipe them out. I know Master doesn’t want much death, just the lord and a few dead soldiers to show strength,” Saint said with a disturbing smile on his face.
“But between me and you, we both know we came here to wipe them out, right? Apart from the citizens.”
However, by the time Saint finished speaking, the smile on his face was gone, replaced by nothing but a cold seriousness.
“I love that,” Magnito said with a smile as they walked past the gate and entered the city, he raised his right hand, and immediately every piece of metal within a hundred meters was dragged toward him.
Then he clenched his fist, crushing all the floating metal into a single dense sphere; before them, the residents of the city had already started screaming and running after witnessing such a display.
That alone was enough to draw the attention of the guards stationed atop the city walls, but Magnito simply flicked his hand forward , and the massive metal ball shot straight toward the huge bell standing in the middle of the square not far away.
Bang!!!
The bell rang out loudly, announcing their presence. By then, all the soldiers on the city wall had already noticed them and were shouting,
“Intruders!!”
“Ahhh, music to my ears. And this time, the stage is ours,” Saint said after inhaling deeply and spreading his hands wide.
