Chapter 30 The Wonderful Uses of Super Intelligence
Chapter 30 The Wonderful Uses of Super Intelligence
Laurie, carrying Ashley's severed body, took to the air, dodging the Fifth Warrior's furious second and third laser eye attacks, and flew away before the others in the manor could arrive.
"grass!"
The Fifth Warrior was enraged when he saw Laurie escape with superpowers identical to those of the Silver Maiden. He was going to find the flying angel or the teleporting Red Devil and hunt that blonde bitch down to her death!
But before the Fifth Warrior could act, a steel hammer made intimate contact with his face, instantly knocking him to the point of tears and snot streaming down his face. This was Earth Eagle, a member of the G-Men.
Earth Eagle's hairstyle and headdress make his head look like an eagle's head, hence his name. He also wields a pair of iron hammers made of a special alloy, capable of destroying most objects in the world.
Earth Eagle is usually the most taciturn member of the G-Men, rarely uttering more than five words a day, but this time he unusually uttered a few more words to the Fifth Warrior:
"I'm so lucky!"
Next to arrive was the stack, accompanied by Han Chao, the captain of the G Special Forces. Professor G, supported by the Holy Angel, followed closely behind. The Fifth Warrior immediately understood what was going on:
"Stack me [a type of alpaca]!"
Stack went to inform on Professor G.
The Holy Angel, who has always been at odds with the Fifth Warrior, launched the first attack:
"Fifth brother, you're a complete idiot who's good for nothing and good for nothing!"
The fifth warrior retorted without backing down: "Holy Chicken, do you want to fight?!"
"Don't argue, my children!"
Professor G, dressed in a suit and tie, tapped his cane lightly on the ground, instantly silencing the argument. A chillingly benevolent expression appeared on his refined face.
"This is a critical moment; there's no time for arguing and internal conflict. If someone makes a mistake, let's work together to solve it. That's the meaning behind our G-Force family!"
Under Professor G's prestige, the internal strife was temporarily suppressed, and everyone returned to the memorial service in a noisy rush, ready to continue their banquet.
After a long time, a pale white figure emerged from the pool of blood left by Ashley's half-dead body.
It was Mirror Girl; she was secretly assigned by Professor G to clean up the scene.
With her bright red eyes scanning the scene, the woman in the mirror quickly found the item left behind: Laurie's cell phone, which she had accidentally dropped.
With a mobile phone, Mirror Girl can naturally follow the clues and eliminate the potential threat from G-Men by tracing the other party's interpersonal relationships.
Even when the phone screen is off, it is still a mirror. The woman in the mirror looks at herself on the other side of the screen, her eyes flashing red light, and the phone unlocks and turns on in an instant.
The first thing that catches the eye are a few text messages that Laurie's father, Arthur, has just sent:
Where did you go?
I was wrong to tell you before that there were no good people in Superhumans, but that was just something I said in anger!
I'm so worried about you!
Daughter, I may not be able to understand you, but I love you!
Please, call Dad back!
The woman in the mirror stared blankly at the phone screen in her hand, standing there for a long time.
Then, almost as if possessed, she typed out a single word and sent it—"Help..."

Laurie clung to Ashley's upper body, drifting numbly in the air.
In mid-air, she recalled what her father had once told her: superpowers are a calamity, not a gift; the more one uses superpowers, the further one deviates from normal people.
Now it seems that this is indeed the case, not only for the person who could shoot lasers, but also for myself.
If Joey didn't have superpowers, what kind of harm would her actions and powers that night have caused him?
Laurie kept flying in one direction until she was exhausted and had no more strength to fly.
She landed in a small town and soon lost consciousness. She only remembered that the townspeople saw her and the half-corpse in her arms and hurriedly called the police.
"Wake up!"
Laurie felt someone gently nudging her. She opened her eyes abruptly and instinctively used her superpowers to try and drive the person away, but all she got in return was a sharp headache: "Ugh!"
"Calm down~ Would you like some water?"
Laurie's eyes were met by a blonde middle-aged woman who handed her a bottle of mineral water, along with an identification document.
"Susan Lena, CIA."
Laurie suddenly remembered her companion whom she had carried all the way: "Where's Ashley?!"
Susan Lena looked at Laurie with pity: "She's dead, child."
The CIA's infiltration of Vought International began long ago, including its infiltration of G-Men.
Susan had previously obtained information about an informant within the G-Men, the Silver Woman Kincaid. Although Kincaid's attitude often wavered, it was at least a good start.
If Langley keeps digging, he'll definitely be able to catch G-Men red-handed and send G-Men and a whole bunch of Vought International employees to jail.
Until recently, news broke that Nubia, a member of the G-Men, and Silver Woman, who was close to her, had committed suicide one after the other, and the investigation suddenly came to a standstill.
But Susan continued her investigation, clinging to the remaining clues. Her investigation also included examining Laurie, the successor to the Silver Woman. Unexpectedly, this new member escaped covered in blood before even a night had passed.
Susan knew that this lead was a lucky break, and she had to keep pursuing it relentlessly.

Starlight was currently wandering the streets of Jersey City with suspicion, the passing crowds at least giving her a sense of security.
She destroyed her phone, left her hiding place, and didn't even dare to drive, because as she was about to drive, whether it was a hallucination or something else, she saw the person in the rearview mirror who had tried to kill her before.
As she fled in panic, Starlight remembered who was chasing her: Mirror Girl from G-Men. She had seen some of Victory Comics' articles a few years ago.
The illustrator and writer team behind those serialized issues were the same ones who had previously worked on "The Scarlet Countess." Their "Mirror Image" series was filled with supernatural and suspenseful elements, keeping the young starlight up for several nights in a row.
Whether it was a misperception due to her heightened tension or reality, Xingguang was now like a frightened bird, afraid to approach any place with a mirror.
Pedestrians came and went on the street, and occasionally they would carry some reflective objects. Starlight felt a chill run down her spine when she looked at these mirrors.
She saw it! In every mirror, there was that pale, ashen face!
The starlight was now indistinguishable from illusion, and the displays and lights in all the shops began to flicker.
She began to draw electricity from the entire commercial street, her eyes and hands gleaming with a dazzling golden light, the immense brightness startling passersby who cast curious glances at her.
She wants to erase all mirrors that could threaten her!
Boom~
A sonic boom echoed in the sky, and a red and blue figure scooped up starlight from the crowd, transferring it to an altitude of ten thousand meters before the energy burst.
"People often say that first impressions are important, and now I believe it. You really are a ticking time bomb, the kind that should be locked up in jail."
Joey remembered that they had already had one such conversation in the stratosphere.
Having finished reading Laurie's file, he knew that she had gone to the G-Men a couple of days ago, and was now planning to fly to the G-Men's location to find out what was going on.
As soon as he took off, he saw a familiar, blinding light in the distance. Recalling his previous experience, he could only fly over in a few seconds to defuse another crisis.
"My God! What have I done?!"
Only then did Xingguang, belatedly realizing what had happened, gasp for breath as if waking from a dream. Cold sweat instantly covered her forehead, and she realized what she had almost done.
Joey could tell that Starlight was not behaving properly. Normally, Joey would probably have thrown her in jail to calm her down, but he didn't have that time now.
"Are you calm now? I'll put you on the ground in a bit, and you can turn yourself in, how about that?"
"don't want!"
Starlight dares not lose her freedom now; if she were locked up, wouldn't she be left at the mercy of others?
So she had no choice but to beg Superman, whom she had previously disliked:
"Please, don't do this to me! Mirror Girl from G-Men is chasing me. If you let me into the police station, I'll die soon!"
"Oh? Why is that mirror woman chasing you?"
Joey didn't know any Mirror Woman; he only heard the keywords "G-Men".
"I don't know! Maybe, just maybe it's related to those missing persons cases I'm investigating!"
Starlight was on the verge of collapse and no longer cared who was trustworthy. He spilled the beans about all the tasks Stan Edgar had assigned him.
"What do these disappearances have to do with the G-Men??...Never mind."
Joey didn't know if he had super intelligence, and even if he did, he couldn't force the pieces together of these events, which were severely missing elements, from Starlight's retelling in a short time.
Because the truth and results obtained in this way will inevitably be distorted and unreliable.
Fortunately, I still have superpowers, so I can go to the G-Men and find out what's going on.
