Chapter 192 The Ubiquitous Troublemakers of the Ninja World
Chapter 192 The Ubiquitous Troublemakers of the Ninja World
Half a month later, an ANBU ninja suddenly appeared behind him, kneeling on one knee: "Lord Hanzo, there is urgent intelligence. The three Akatsuki members, Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan, have recently taken in a large number of thugs and vagrants in a border city."
Hanzo of the Salamander, who was just about to open a bottle of good wine to celebrate, frowned after hearing this: "The Akatsuki? Jiraiya's three disciples?"
That's right, Hanzo the Salamander had always known about Yahiko and his group. He couldn't possibly ignore the emergence of such a genius on his own turf.
He cherished talent and even considered taking on apprentices, but most of the people in the Three Kingdoms Alliance were subordinates of Aburame Shicheng, and they knew a lot of confidential information.
Upon hearing that he wanted to take on disciples, Kakuzu immediately told him that these three were already Jiraiya's disciples.
Upon hearing this, Hanzo the Salamander instantly abandoned the idea of taking on disciples, but still cherished talent, so he made an exception and gave them a city to run wild.
But now it seems that all these years of experience have not made them any better.
"Could it be that they are still adhering to Jiraiya's peace ideals, claiming that hatred can be eliminated and lasting peace achieved through mutual understanding and care?"
"That's right. In order to cope with the surge in population, they even volunteered to provide porridge to the poor."
Hanzo the Salamander fell silent after hearing this, unsure of what to say for a moment.
He shouldn't have celebrated so early. He put the wine aside and casually asked, "How was it?"
"Not good."
The ANBU ninja said, "Most of those who come to collect porridge are not truly poor, but rather idle hooligans. They dress in tattered clothes, pretending to be refugees, and line up every day to collect porridge; those who truly need relief are the ones who are crowding out the porridge and can't get any."
"Don't Yahiko and the others care?"
"We tried, but it was no use," the ANBU ninja said. "Every time they caught someone cutting in line, they just gave them a verbal warning and let them go. Those thugs weren't afraid at all, and they did it again next time. Yahiko even advised them to cultivate arable land and grow their own food, but those people said: 'If there's food, I'll eat; if there's no food, I'll lie down. If you don't give me porridge, I'll starve to death.' 'Farming is too tiring; we're not slaves.'"
Hanzo the Salamander sneered, "Naive. Prepare the horses; I'm going to that city myself."
Although Aburame Shisei had warned him not to easily come into contact with these three people, he couldn't care less about that now; some things had to be corrected.
Three days later, Hanzo the Salamander arrived at the city where the Akatsuki organization was located.
This border town experienced a population explosion in just half a month, becoming extremely crowded and chaotic.
The streets were filled with idlers, some squatting, some sitting, some gambling, some fighting, and some simply lying down to sleep. The few people who actually did work seemed out of place.
Hanzo the Salamander frowned and continued walking forward.
Soon, he arrived at the city center square.
There was a group of people gathered together, making a lot of noise. He went closer and saw a blue-haired girl distributing porridge in the middle of the crowd; it was Xiao Nan.
She was dressed simply, with a gentle smile on her face, as she ladled porridge onto the people in line, one spoonful at a time.
The line was chaotic, with people constantly cutting in, pushing, and cursing.
"Don't push, there's enough for everyone," Xiao Nan said softly, but her voice was drowned out by the noise of the crowd.
A burly man pushed his way to the front and handed her a bowl: "Fill it up, make it thick!"
Xiao Nan looked at him. The strong man was robust and muscular, and did not look like someone who needed help at all. But she said nothing and still served him porridge.
The burly man was still dissatisfied: "It's too watery, scoop it dry!"
Xiao Nan hesitated for a moment, but still scooped out more dried food for him.
The burly man then left, satisfied.
Hanzo the Salamander watched this unfold and shook his head.
Just then, another thug squeezed through, shoved the old man in front of him aside, and held the bowl out to Xiao Nan.
Xiao Nan finally couldn't hold back any longer: "Please line up."
"What are you waiting in line for?" the thug glared. "I'm hungry, I want to eat!"
"But this old man arrived first."
"Him? He's an old codger, might as well let him starve to death." The thug reached out to grab the porridge spoon.
Xiao Nan's eyes turned cold, and the next moment, the thug flew backward and crashed heavily to the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
The crowd fell silent instantly. Xiao Nan withdrew her hand, looking at the thugs on the ground with a blank expression.
"I told you, please line up."
The thug got up, glanced at her in fear, and slunk to the back of the line.
Everyone else also calmed down and obediently lined up.
Xiao Nan continued to distribute porridge, but her expression was no longer gentle; only exhaustion and helplessness remained.
After the porridge distribution ended, the crowd dispersed.
Xiao Nan watched as those who had received the porridge left in twos and threes. Some drank as they walked, some poured it into their personal containers, and some even threw it away. They weren't really there to drink the porridge; they were just greedy for this perk.
She sighed softly and prepared to leave.
Just then, a voice came from behind: "You're not going to do anything right."
Xiao Nan turned around and saw a man wearing a gas mask standing not far away.
He had a sickle slung at his waist and exuded a dangerous aura.
"Hanzo the Salamander... sir?" She looked surprised, almost exclaiming aloud.
Hanzo the Salamander is a god of the Land of Rain, and she never imagined that such a person would condescend to come to their small town.
Hanzo the Salamander removed his gas mask, revealing the face of a middle-aged man.
"You just now..." she murmured.
"I'm telling you, what you're doing is useless." Hanzo the Salamander stepped forward, watching the departing people. "If verbal instruction could teach people to behave, humanity wouldn't need criminal law."
He raised his hand and pointed in one direction.
Xiao Nan looked in the direction he pointed and saw the group of thugs who had cut in line earlier gathered together, talking about something.
The next moment, Hanzo the Salamander moved.
He moved with lightning speed, appearing instantly in front of the thugs.
The scythe flashed, and three heads flew off, blood gushing out.
Xiao Nan's eyes widened in astonishment.
Hanzo the Salamander sheathed his scythe, staring expressionlessly at the corpse on the ground.
"The best way to deal with these kinds of people is to send them to the military for reform, to make them work and train until they are too tired to cause trouble; or to wear them down on the battlefield, which would be a contribution to the country."
Xiao Nan stepped forward, looked at the three corpses, and felt a mix of emotions.
Did she hate these people? Not exactly hate, just disgust. Their cutting in line and bullying the elderly gave her a lot of headaches, but she never thought of killing them.
Hanzo killed the salamander swiftly and effortlessly, as if he were killing a chicken.
"How...how could you..."
"How could you kill them?" Hanzo the Salamander saw through her thoughts and continued, "Little girl, do you know what it means to govern a country?"
