Chapter 816
Chapter 816
Anton's days became a blur of casting spells to kill undead and being passed around within the five teams that he and Aruma were part of, so he could utilize his Paladin Aura to make sure all the wizards were at their peak.Even after so many days, he was extremely glad that Aruma was still with him. The old wizard and Anton were the only ones left of Team Gorvin, and he was hoping that both of them would be able to survive until the end.
He avoided thinking about the others. Even though he did not become that close with Captain Joraniah, Sudarta, Helena, Mishos, Ishmael, Tamor, and Farijas, the fact that he admired all of them simply because they had taken upon themselves to fight against the Undead Coalition, despite knowing that it could mean their deaths, meant that they were just like him. They truly wanted this world to get rid of the cancer that was the coalition.
The main issue that the five teams that he and Aruma were part of was that every time they encountered Semi-Divine or Divine Rank undead, it was inevitable that one or more of them would be destroyed. The only reason why he and Aruma had survived was Anton’s tactic of utilizing his summons as shields to avoid fatal spells from those powerful undead beings. Once the powerful wizards from their side arrived to help them, they would leave the battle between the most powerful beings and continue their goal of eliminating as many undead as they could.
They kept on fighting nonstop that Anton started to feel empty inside. He did not even know any of the wizards in the teams that he and Aruma were part of. After some time, they found that the most powerful undead they were encountering were of the Supreme Rank creatures. They had not been ambushed by any Invincible Rank and above undead creatures.
Finally, one of the captains of one of the teams that was leading them suddenly shouted. The captain asked everyone to gather nearer to announce something. Basically, the captain that Anton did not know the name of received a command to gather at a specific location near the area where they first entered Nizgeroth.
Apparently, it was finally time for the final battle between the most powerful beings from both sides since the number of the most powerful had started to dwindle to a critical level on the Undead Coalition side.
Everyone was called to retreat because it was almost a certainty that the undead would utilize some sort of kamikaze spell that would destroy not only them, but all the wizards who participated in the attack.
Anton almost cried in relief when he heard that the final battle had arrived. They did not tarry in that location anymore and started flying as fast as they could to the specified location. It took them several hours before they arrived at the designated location.
Anton was dismayed when he saw the number of wizards that gathered at the specified location that the message the captain had received. When he asked the captain, who seemed to have a direct communication with someone who was in the know regarding the number of wizards that died, the captain grimly said that seventy-five percent of the total number of wizards that had participated in the attack had fallen.
The area where everyone gathered was protected by tens of Semi-Divine Wizards. The rest were gathered in the center of Nizgeroth for the final battle between the Undead Coalition’s High Council and the powerful Divine Rank wizards of the allied kingdoms of humanity.
Anton felt pity that he had not attained the power to be part of the main battle. After waiting for a couple of hours, Anton started to feel something dreadful in the most inner part of his being. His ego started to shout at him to flee, and he had to dig deep inside himself to have the willpower to prevent himself from teleporting away from the area.
He looked around and saw that he was not alone. A lot of wizards did start fleeing and were only stopped by the barriers that were constructed by the tens of Semi-Divine rank wizards that was protecting the area.
After a few more minutes, Anton and everyone else, for that matter, started to hear a massive apocalyptic noise from within Nizgeroth. He knew that the thing that he felt and the noise that he heard was possibly the result of some sort of final spell that was either cast by the wizards on their side or by undead beings.
Even though they were extremely far from the center of the kingdom of the undead, they saw the result of some of the titanic spells that were used. It was as if the sky of Nizgeroth was suddenly obliterated. Everyone could now see the different galaxies that permeate the universe.
Different planets with rings and surrounded by a massive number of moons were visible in the sky. The planets glowed in different colors. Even though Anton did not suffer from Megalophobia, the sheer enormity of the things in the sky brought forth primal fear and awe in every wizard there. Anton could even see that the massive celestial bodies were moving. The planetary rings and moons kept orbiting their planets. He even saw some meteorites hitting the different planets in the sky.
Finally, a star appeared just above the center of the Nizgeroth. The star was massive, and after a few seconds, it exploded and turned into a gigantic black hole.
Anton could not take his eyes away from what was happening in the sky above the center of Nizgeroth. The enormous black hole suddenly started falling down, and soon, it devoured the kingdom of the Undead Coalition.
Everyone then heard such a massive explosion that Anton could not help but cover his ears with his hands, and every wizard that was under the protection of the tens of Semi-Divine wizards did the same thing. After a few more seconds, the world turned dark and silent. It was as if the whole planet had turned itself off. The silence and the darkness lasted for a minute, and that minute felt like an eternity. Anton started to panic when the lights and the sound returned.
Everyone was flabbergasted when they saw that the Nizgeroth was no more. In place of the huge kingdom of the Undead Coalition, there was only an extremely huge and deep crater or caldera.
Anton wondered if any of the Divine Rank wizards had survived such a mighty spell. After a few more minutes, the Semi-Divine Wizards brought down the massive shield that was protecting everyone. They then heard a command that everyone should enter the caldera to search for any remaining undead and destroy them if they found any.
The wizards were grouped into four groups that consisted of the remaining wizards there. Anton was extremely glad that the wizards on their side decided to confirm if the Undead Coalition was truly gone.
The sweep lasted for several days, and they actually did not find any undead creatures remaining in the remnant of the fallen kingdom of Nizgeroth. When every wizard there finally heard the command to stop the sweep and that the Undead Coalition was finally destroyed, Anton finally allowed himself to cry. He started sobbing loudly to release all the grief, the rage, and the loneliness that he had felt during the last few weeks. He allowed himself that release since he wasn’t alone. Almost all of the wizards there started sobbing as if their parents had died in front of them.
