Chapter 311.1. Be Careful Of Traps
-Miu’s POV-
The loud blaring of metal alarms echoed through the metallic corridor, which was spacious enough for shipping containers to easily pass.
Red lamps installed on the walls rotated, signaling caution. Clanging metal sounds reverberated as individuals clad in dull, iron-colored full-body Western armor ran through the corridor.
The ceiling, floor, and walls were all without rust and gleamed as if they had been meticulously polished, while magic lights illuminated the passage.
There was a somewhat disheveled young man with faint bags under his eyes peeking discreetly from the shadows of the corridor.
He watched as those in full armor, running in formation, left him behind.
He is wearing a shabby black jersey, and his sneakers are worn out and need to get replaced.
“Looks like they’re gone.”
“Yeah, that was a close call. Heimdall’s [Clairvoyance] weren’t all that useful.”
The man’s name was Heimdall. He was a god with the power to protect the realm of the gods and see everything with his [Clairvoyance].
Though at the moment, he appeared to be an unhealthy-looking NEET, his original appearance was that of a handsome NEET. In either case, he was still a NEET.
Neetdall, with an irritated expression, complained to the woman behind him.
“I saw the trap clearly. It was a pressure-sensitive bomb floor.”
“That was child’s play.”
Frigg lifted her flowing, beautiful golden hair, gazing at Heimdall with eyes that exuded a bewitching allure.
“You’re right, Frigg. I didn’t expect you to know about thief’s tricks, but it was undoubtedly useful. I’m impressed that you could disarm it so easily.”
Mimic flipped over as Mii-chan grabbed it and tried to smash it. Mii-chan fell off from Mimic with such force that it rolled away from her.
Mimic turned itself inside out, wagging its tongue like a tail and shivering.
“It’s surprisingly straightforward for a treasure chest.”
“Well, um, it seems it wants to join us.”
Although she had been ready to deliver the finishing blow, Freya hesitated. The Mimic’s lid was opening and closing in sync with her words. It seemed to possess a fair amount of intelligence.
“Mimics are rare monsters... I wonder how they are in reality?”
“It’s true; they’re not your typical pop-up monsters. I remember having a hard time recruiting them in games.”
In response to Frigg-oneesan’s words, Mii-chan hesitated to attack. In a way, it did seem like a waste to defeat it.
Frigg-oneesan had likely chimed in with the comment about the gemstone generator organ in its body.
I prayed that she wouldn’t dissect it later. But for now, I decided to make it a companion.
“Freya, let’s make the Mimic our companion.”
“Understood. Then, [Contract].”
As a Holy Knight and a MonsterTamer, this job was a straightforward task for Freya.
When Freya extended her hand toward the Mimic, a faint light enveloped it, and its appearance changed.
“Oh... it’s become smaller.”
Mimic transformed into a small box that could fit in someone’s palm. It was a white box reinforced with gold and silver, adorned with scattered gemstones, resembling a beautiful jewelry box.
“Indeed, it’s really small now. I’ll protect it. Hey, I wonder after we take these gemstones, can we restore them with recovery magic?”
In response to Frigg-oneesan’s radiant enthusiasm, the jewelry box leaped into the air and hastily perched on Freya’s shoulder.
