Mercenary's War

Chapter 2427 - 2403: Not Pure Enough

Chapter 2427 - 2403: Not Pure Enough

Gao Yang put down the binoculars, gestured to Joseph to indicate that he had observed personally, and then placed his eyes behind the spotting scope.Cui Bo and Phoenix were shooting at targets at different distances, with Cui Bo being farther and Phoenix closer, and Yuri’s range was even closer, but regardless of the distance, they all had to shoot accurately. However, today, after a long-distance run, the shooting accuracy of the three had declined significantly, and quite severely.

No matter how accurate they usually shoot, when their legs tremble from running and their hands shake, it’s impossible to shoot accurately.

Cui Bo and Phoenix could still occasionally hit the target, but for Yuri, long-distance running was truly not his strength; rather, it’s his weakest shortcoming, resulting in his first six grenades all missing the target, only with the seventh barely grazing the edge.

However, Cui Bo and Phoenix were still within the normal range of performance. After all, in real combat, they wouldn’t push themselves to the extreme before shooting. In training, they would deliberately seek shooting under extreme conditions, but in real combat, they would naturally try every means to avoid shooting under bodily limits.

"Clumsy Bear performed too poorly and needs more practice. Rabbit, you’ve regressed. Crow, you shot better than I expected."

After briefly giving evaluations, Gao Yang left the spotting scope and said loudly: "Let me take a few shots, I haven’t shot with a large caliber for a long time. Rabbit, give me your gun."

"But, are we still shooting here? Aren’t we going back? There’s been an air raid!"

"What’s the use of going back?"

"It’s no use, but..."

"If it’s no use going back, then why go back? It’d be a waste not to complete the planned training after running so far."

After saying a few words nonchalantly, Gao Yang lay prone on the ground and smiled, "Why be in a rush? Zero the distance."

"Eight hundred meters zeroing, but... never mind, go ahead and shoot."

Gao Yang often participated in combat alongside infantry, mostly at close to mid-range shooting within six hundred meters, so his gun’s zeroing distance was usually two hundred or three hundred meters. But Cui Bo was different; he used a large-caliber rifle with a high-magnification scope, pursuing precision shooting at long distances. Over one thousand meters was normal for him, so his scope was zeroed at eight hundred meters.

Gao Yang aimed at the target and fired three shots, all hitting. Seeking a bullseye at such a long distance wasn’t realistic, and the rifle’s spread couldn’t possibly achieve shot after shot in the bullseye.

Phoenix watched through the spotting scope. She shifted her gaze to Gao Yang and said, "Perfect."

Gao Yang said confidently, "It’s very normal for me."

Phoenix, puzzled and serious, asked, "How can you do it?"

Gao Yang waved his hand and smiled, "Because I have good endurance, unlike you guys. You get exhausted just running this distance, but I just treat it as a warm-up, which gives me the stamina needed for precise shooting, which you guys lack."

Saying this, Gao Yang fired a few more shots and, confirming his long-distance shooting was as sharp as ever, smiled at Phoenix, "Hand me your gun as well."

Shooting is hardly an easy thing to do; to genuinely achieve hair-splitting precision, reaching a deity-like level, is complicated. Being as familiar with the gun, scope, and ammo in hand as with one’s own body is the bare minimum requirement.

Gao Yang would never change his gun. As long as his gun could still be used, no matter how advanced new guns might be, he wouldn’t replace it because he had memorized the ballistic trajectory. With his own gun, he didn’t have to think at all about where the bullet would land at any given distance. Even after accounting for wind adjustments, he didn’t have to think about how to aim in the scope, because all the data had become second nature to him.

When using his own gun, Gao Yang never needed time to calculate data; he could just aim and fire. However, when using someone else’s gun, or an unfamiliar gun, his shooting time would be longer.

For Gao Yang now, trying to improve his shooting skills further with the Blade of Satan was meaningless. His goal now was to become thoroughly familiar with the trajectory of every type of gun and ammo used by the Satan members, aiming to make all data second nature and to be able to aim and fire immediately even with other sniper rifles.

As for automatic rifles and shotguns, Gao Yang had no need to practice since he was long past that stage, only maintaining his form through lots of shooting.

After taking Phoenix’s gun, Gao Yang took a deep breath and fired more than ten rounds. Despite being very familiar with the .338 Lapua Magnum ammo, he still needed to get used to Phoenix’s gun.

Seeing that Gao Yang used her gun to achieve better results than she did, Phoenix remained silent. Finally, she said resolutely, "I need to train my endurance, mainly my stamina."

Gao Yang sighed and said, "There’s no need; your stamina is already good enough. If your goal is to catch up with me, you’ll never achieve it."

When faced with topics she completely disagreed with and didn’t want to argue about, Phoenix would only remain silent, but it didn’t mean she agreed.

Knowing what Phoenix was thinking, Gao Yang changed the magazine in his gun and smiled, "I can run eighty kilometers with the current gear. Do you think it’s meaningful?"

Phoenix looked at Gao Yang again, then said quietly, "I don’t believe it."

Joseph was shocked, saying to Gao Yang, "That monster...is you!"

Gao Yang looked at Joseph, equally surprised, and said, "You know?"

"I know! Is it really you? How is that possible!"

Gao Yang exhaled and shook his head helplessly, "Since Kick Ram is me, then it’s not impossible, right? As for the specifics, I can’t say; you understand."

Yuri said blankly, "Eighty kilometers? I don’t believe it, not even if you kill me!"

Cui Bo said disdainfully, "The boss doesn’t mind saying it. Believe it or not, Porcupine surely believes, right?"

Joseph said in a daze, "I know it’s true, and I know there are many people in the world who can do it, like super marathon runners. But Boss, how did you accomplish it?"

Gao Yang sighed and said, "Running tens of kilometers every day just to fill your stomach, under the guidance of the best long-distance runners in the world, plus scientifically structured running, after three years of constant training, maybe you guys could do it too. But what’s the point?"

Gao Yang shrugged again and smiled, "You wouldn’t have the time to train this either, nor is there a need."

Cui Bo shrugged his hands, "I mean, do we need to discuss this? The city is under air raid; the war is about to begin, why are we still here?"

Gao Yang said helplessly, "Rabbit, do you know why you haven’t made much progress in shooting no matter how much you train? It’s because you’re not focused enough. Since you can’t do anything by going back, why not stay and continue practicing your gun?"
