Chapter 80 Corporate Espionage and Itch Powder
Chapter 80 Corporate Espionage and Itch Powder
A person is hanging on the wall in the backyard.
To be precise, he was a man wearing a bespoke suit and with slicked-back hair, but whose trouser leg and buttocks were being tightly bitten by three large geese.
One of his leather shoes had fallen off, revealing a gaudy purple sock covered in goose droppings.
"Help! What the hell is this place!" The man waved his briefcase, trying to drive away these incredibly aggressive poultry, but the geese got more and more excited the more he fought them, stretching their necks straight and twisting their soft flesh.
Guan Shan stood under the wall, arms crossed, watching the show, showing no intention of helping at all.
"Stop calling, or they'll think you're courting them." Guan Shan whistled, and the geese reluctantly released their beaks, strutting around the yard with their heads held high, as if they had just won a battle.
The man tumbled off the wall in a sorry state, landing face-first in the dirt.
He got up, straightened his torn suit, and tried to maintain the last shred of dignity.
"I'm Lin Feng, the regional manager of 'Peak Biotechnology'." The man pulled a crumpled business card from his pocket and handed it to Wang Minyu, who had rushed over after hearing the commotion. "Dr. Wang, right? Your hospitality is quite problematic."
Wang Minyu didn't take the business card, but instead kicked a goose feather on the ground with the tip of his shoe: "Why not use the main entrance by climbing over the wall? Are you a gecko? Or is your company's corporate culture about thievery?"
Lin Feng's face stiffened, but he quickly put on a professional fake smile.
"Dr. Wang, you misunderstand. Renxin Pharmacy is so famous now, I was thinking of keeping a low profile to avoid causing a sensation." His eyes swept greedily over the herb garden in the yard, finally settling on the large vat. "Our company is very interested in several 'projects' that Dr. Wang has. For example, that special kind of mint, and... special patients."
"No interest, not selling, get lost." Wang Minyu turned and left.
"Ten million," Lin Feng shouted, "just for the mint seeds."
Wang Minyu didn't stop walking.
"Fifty million! Plus the person in that vat!" Lin Feng exclaimed anxiously. "Wang Minyu, don't push your luck. That 'pickled cabbage' is a dangerous substance; detaining it without authorization is illegal! Our Peak Biotechnology has legitimate medical research qualifications. Handing him over to us is a responsible act towards society!"
Wang Minyu stopped, turned around, and a playful smile appeared on his face.
"Oh? You know that's a person?"
Lin Feng's heart skipped a beat as he realized he had let something slip.
The "pickled cabbage" was so pickled that it was unrecognizable to ordinary people; they would only think it was some kind of specimen.
"We...we have inside information," Lin Feng forced an explanation. "Anyway, I have to take the samples away today. If you don't cooperate, the Health Bureau, the Drug Administration, and even the SWAT team will be coming to your lousy shop tomorrow."
This is the true intention revealed.
"Want to take a sample?" Wang Minyu walked to the edge of the herb field, casually picked a leaf, and said, "Sure, since Manager Lin is so sincere, I'll give you some local specialties."
He crushed the leaf, threw it into the teapot next to him, and poured in hot water.
"This is called 'welcome tea.' After you've had this tea, let's talk business."
Lin Feng looked at the cup of tea with suspicion.
He had done his homework before coming and knew that this man surnamed Wang was strange, but he was confident that he had brought a neutralizing agent and that it was broad daylight, so he figured the other party wouldn't dare to poison him.
"I'm not thirsty," Lin Feng refused.
"Not drinking means you're disrespecting me." Wang Minyu winked at Guan Shan.
Guan Shan walked over like an iron tower, placing his large palm on Lin Feng's shoulder. With just a little force, Lin Feng felt as if his bones were about to break.
"Manager Lin, please do me a favor." Guan Shan smiled like a two-hundred-pound child.
Under absolute force, Lin Feng drank the tea with tears in his eyes.
The tea had no strange taste when it went down my throat; in fact, it even had a slightly sweet aftertaste.
"Alright, you've had your tea, you can get out of here now." Wang Minyu waved his hand.
"You..." Lin Feng was about to lash out when he suddenly felt a tickle on his neck.
He scratched it.
Next, my back started to itch.
Then it spread to my thighs, arms, soles of my feet... The itch wasn't just on the surface of my skin, but felt like countless ants were crawling in my bones and dancing disco in my blood vessels.
"What...what is this..." Lin Feng began to scratch frantically, his fingernails leaving bloody marks on his skin.
"This is the system... oh no, it's a byproduct of my specially made 'Carefree Powder - Modified,' commonly known as 'Itchy Grass.'" Wang Minyu laughed happily. "Its pollen can stimulate an explosive release of histamine. Manager Lin, are you feeling like it's your first love, unforgettable?"
"Ah—! Wang Minyu! You poisoned me!" Lin Feng rolled on the ground, his suit covered in mud, looking like a fish struggling on shore. "The antidote! Give me the antidote!"
"There is an antidote," Wang Minyu said, pointing to the flock of geese. "Some enzymes in goose droppings can neutralize this toxin. If you're willing to eat a bite, you'll be fine immediately."
Li Siyuan and Zhao Na watched in stunned silence. Eating goose droppings? That's outrageous!
Although Lin Feng was itching so badly he wanted to die, he'd rather be killed than eat shit.
He screamed as he crawled out, and was eventually dragged into the car by the bodyguards like a dead dog.
"Wang Minyu! You wait! Peak Creatures won't let you get away with this!" Lin Feng shouted hoarsely before the car door closed.
As he watched the taillights disappear into the distance, Wang Minyu's smile vanished.
"Su Qing, have the test results come back yet?"
Su Qing emerged from the lab, holding a report in her hand, her expression grave: "It's out. A special inhibitor was detected in the saliva Lin Feng left behind while drinking tea. This inhibitor is specifically targeted at the 'S-01' berserker agent. In other words, they were indeed after 'pickled cabbage'."
"Peak Creatures..." Wang Minyu sneered, "It seems this is the outer shell of the 'S' organization."
Just then, a sound of water suddenly came from the large, quiet vat.
The "pickled cabbage" that had been pickled for several days suddenly sat up from the water.
His skin had turned white and wrinkled from being soaked, but his eyes were wide open, with pupils shrunk to the size of pinpoints.
"Here it comes..." he uttered, his voice like a broken bellows.
"Who's here?" Wang Minyu walked over.
"The Mother..." the man stammered, pointing westward, towards the city center hospital. "The Mother... is hatching... Run..."
After saying this nonsensical sentence, he fainted again and fell straight back into the acidic water.
Wang Minyu looked westward, where a strange dark cloud was gathering on the horizon, faintly emitting a dark red light.
"Master, what's going on?" Li Siyuan felt a chill run down his spine.
"It's nothing." Wang Minyu turned around. "Guan Shan, don't sleep tonight. Harvest all the mutated mints and boil them into a concentrated liquid. Su Qing, prepare the maximum dose of antibiotics and realgar powder."
"What are we supposed to do?"
"Go to the city's central hospital." Wang Minyu downed the water in his teacup in one gulp. "Someone's raising venomous insects there. If we don't go soon, the entire Changxiang City will become a worm's nest."
