Chapter 712 - 566: Take the Medicine First
Chapter 712 - 566: Take the Medicine First
"Believe! Believe! Believe!" Jiang Han said sincerely, "Please prescribe me some medicine."
Ning Youguang picked up the pen she had just discarded and started writing a prescription for him.
Jiang Han knew she didn’t like being interrupted while writing prescriptions, so he patiently waited until she was finished before asking his question, "I don’t drink much alcohol, and I often eat goji berries to nourish my liver and improve eyesight. How could I still get hepatitis?"
"Your liver blood and liver yin are drained dry, your liver’s wood element has turned into kindling. It’s not just about eating goji berries; even consuming prepared rehmannia root and seal kidney together as beans won’t help." Ning Youguang finished writing the final notes on the paper and pushed the prescription toward Jiang Han, "Start by taking seven doses, and come see me after you’ve finished them."
Jiang Han nodded.
He didn’t immediately reach for the prescription but continued to ask, "Besides taking medicine, is there anything else I should pay attention to?"
"Less viewing nourishes blood, less talking nourishes qi, less thinking nourishes the spirit, less listening nourishes essence, less gossip nourishes fluids." Ning Youguang said, "From now on, besides taking your medicine properly, you must go to bed before eleven at night, keep the curtains drawn for viewing, breathe deeply and calmly in peaceful surroundings, eat plain and moderate meals, and ensure serenity while lying down to properly nurture your qi and blood, allowing your liver blood to recover."
Jiang Han listened, somewhat understanding, "So, you’re saying I should cultivate my body and mind, right?"
"You could interpret it that way." Ning Youguang picked up the bag she had placed aside and began to pack her things.
Seeing this, Jiang Han immediately said, "Teacher Ning, let’s have a meal together, and then I’ll take you home."
"No need." Ning Youguang stood up after packing her things, "I still have a few errands to run nearby, so I won’t join you for dinner."
Seeing her refusal, Jiang Han didn’t insist and stood up with her, saying, "Then let me see you off."
The young man trembled as if wanting to stand as well, but Jiang Han immediately pressed his shoulder down, "Just sit here and rest well."
Then he followed Ning Youguang out of the private room.
As they left the private room, they happened to see Yu Xian in a white long-sleeve shirt carrying several plates of pastries over.
He was surprised to see Ning Youguang with her bag, "Leaving already?"
"It’s getting late, and I still have some things to do."
Ning Youguang stopped in front of Yu Xian, her gaze fixed on the pastries he was carrying, "These pastries look beautiful; what are they?"
She pointed to two plates of pastries out of the four Yu Xian was holding, which looked like flowers, full of classical elegance, and asked.
"Peach blossom and Xiao Chunfeng." Yu Xian reported the names according to Ning Youguang’s query.
"Wow! They look beautiful, and the names are lovely too." Ning Youguang was delighted, "Do you have more of these pastries? Pack two servings for me."
"Sure." Yu Xian smiled and said, "I’ll pack them for you once I bring these inside."
Jiang Han chimed in appropriately, "You go and pack the pastries for Teacher Ning, and I’ll have Xiao Liu bring these inside."
With that, he called over an assistant who had been waiting outside the private room, "Xiao Liu, come and take these pastries inside."
The tall and burly assistant quickly came over to take the pastries from Yu Xian.
Afterward, Yu Xian followed the two downstairs.
Jiang Han naturally walked behind the two.
Ning Youguang continued to ask Yu Xian, "Besides Peach Blossom and Xiao Chunfeng, what other nice-looking and tasty pastries do you have today?"
"There’s also ’Century Harmony’." Yu Xian said.
"I want to pack four boxes of ’Century Harmony’ too." Ning Youguang knew ’Century Harmony’, a classic Jiangnan pastry often available at Yu Xian’s place.
It’s very popular with customers.
The ingredients are not unusual; simply put, it’s made of mung bean powder.
The charm lies in the fact that the mung bean pastries produced by "Unbounded Comfort" are not your ordinary mung bean pastries.
’Century Harmony’ includes four flavors in total: mango mung bean pastry, cranberry mung bean pastry, original mung bean pastry, and matcha chocolate mung bean pastry, each crafted into cute lotus flowers, lotus seeds, lotus leaves, and lotus root shapes.
Every time she comes here, she packs some to take back for her teachers, senior brothers, and senior sisters to share, earning great affection.
Once downstairs, Yu Xian went to prepare the pastry packs.
Ning Youguang asked again, "Since your osmanthus is blooming, should you start making ’Idle Moon’?"
Yu Xian paused in his steps and turned slowly, "I’ve only made a few boxes. How many do you want?"
Ning Youguang smiled while pursing her lips, "Six boxes."
Yu Xian replied good-naturedly, "I’ve only made eight boxes in total, half of which are already reserved by others. I originally kept the rest for myself, but since you want them, I’ll have to divide them with you."
"Two boxes are too little." Ning Youguang discontentedly squeezed herself next to Yu Xian, "I just saw your backyard osmanthus blooming beautifully this year; you can make more."
"How about you wait for me to make more?" Yu Xian chuckled softly, raising his eyebrows. The autumn sunlight filtering through the clean windows behind him highlighted his refined demeanor.
"No, if I wait even longer, the osmanthus will be gone." Ning Youguang bargained, "Three boxes at least, no less. The ’Idle Moon’ at home is long finished; we’ve been waiting for your new batch."
"Alright." Yu Xian sighed, "You’re the only one who dares to be so unreserved with me."
Once she secured what she wanted, Ning Youguang turned to look at Jiang Han, who had been following them silently, "Jiang Han, go home and rest; no need to see me off. Drink less tea."
Jiang Han paused, "I can’t drink tea either?"
Ning Youguang glanced at him, "You can’t drink tea while on medication. After you’ve finished your medicine, depending on your condition, you might be able to drink once a week."
Jiang Han patted his forehead, "This is too difficult."
He can’t drink alcohol, and now he can’t drink tea either.
His mental boosters are gone just like that.
"Why don’t you ask yourself if your body finds it difficult?"
Ning Youguang had no sympathy for those who defy medical advice and then lament, and she thought of the person in the private room that left people speechless.
"Let your friend know: no smoking, drinking, tea, and... none of it."
"Got it."
Jiang Han felt no mental burden in passing the message for someone.
Yet, thinking about the quality tea he had ordered from Yu Xian, it was unfortunate.
Thinking about tea, he glanced at Ning Youguang and then turned to Yu Xian, "Yu Xian, later take two packets of white tea from my stash for Dr. Ning. I can’t drink it anyway; let her have it then."
Ning Youguang said, "I don’t need that much."
Jiang Han dejectedly waved his hand, "Please, just help share some of the burden."
Even giving away tea felt like asking for assistance with clearance, as if selling surplus stocks. Jiang Boss wasn’t entirely without merits.
Ning Youguang knew the tea was likely already prepared for her, "Alright, thank you then."
Seeing her accept the tea, Jiang Han’s face showed joy, "Doctor Ning, if I can’t drink tea, can I drink coffee?"
"No." Ning Youguang shook her head, "Drinking coffee will eventually cause problems with your heart."
Jiang Han was scared and helpless, "Can you tell me what I can eat to feel energized?"
"We’ll talk after you’ve finished your medication."
