Chapter 2 – Sequence A
Chapter 2 – Sequence A
"Alert, containment entity N-2814 spotted... containment entity N-2814 spotted..."
The piercing alarm echoed throughout the control center. A gigantic screen, over a hundred inches in size, was mounted in the center of the room. People in uniform bustled around the high-tech equipment.
Tang Wen stood at the command post in the control center, conveying orders through his headset, "Where is the location?"
"Between Tongle Supermarket and the residential community in the Xiangjiang District of Kangtu City."
The screen shifted as the communication officer responded. A map popped up on the screen, with an orange exclamation point placed in the middle of a city area.
"Who is the nearest Commissioner?" Tang Wen asked.
"It's 'Crow' Commissioner," a young man in a gray suit, adjusting his large glasses next to him, reported, "Crow has received the alert and is on his way..."
"No, tell him to hold his position for now," Tang Wen interrupted, "We don't want to startle the entity. Wait for backup."
The young man in the gray suit paused, then asked, "But right now, Crow is a Rank-B field Commissioner. His ability..."
"Isn't enough to handle it," Tang Wen impatiently cut him off. "You should have done your homework, Xiao An. The leak of containment entity N-2814 could be the most dangerous one in Kangtu City in the past three years. Its danger rank is above three.
Last week 'Saintess' encountered it, but it still escaped."
Xiao An's eyes widened, "The Saintess is... the Rank-A one..."
"Yes, it managed to engage with the Saintess and still escape unscathed. This speaks volumes. So tell Crow to wait for backup..."
Before Tang Wen could finish his sentence, the shrill alarm sounded again in the control center. Tang Wen's face instantly changed.
"What now!?"
It was truly a bizarre day. This alarm was the same as the previous one, signaling a high-alert event. However, high-alert events were not as common as supermarket sales, they were rare occurrences, happening only once in several years.
But today, within just a few minutes, the same alarm had sounded twice. This was probably the first time since the establishment of Sky Eye.
"Sir!" a communication officer shouted, "Something is breaking through the atmosphere! It's moving extremely fast, it's about to..."
He couldn't finish his report.
Because the object was moving too fast and the time was too short.

Like a meteor from outer space, crossing the pitch-black sky, it shot into the city, striking the empty street close to midnight with a deafening roar. The asphalt shattered into pieces, the black fragments scattering like a rain of flowers. Water sprayed from the burst pipes towards the limitless night sky, like fountains adorning a grand arrival.
His reaction seemed to say, don't take it seriously, I was just playing...
The girl's eyes turned bright red. Her beautiful eyes seemed to have been forged into molten lava, transforming into a magma-like crimson color. Red-hot lines radiated under the white skin around her eyes, and the rapidly increasing temperature distorted space.
Two ultra-hot laser beams howled out of those eyes.
There was absolutely no room to dodge, and the red-hot laser beams instantly hit the man in the white suit. It was as if those were the eyes of the Reaper, anything she looked at was destined to be burned to ashes, without luck or mercy.
The meticulously tailored white suit was instantly melted, but what was revealed underneath wasn't human flesh, but some kind of twisted black form. The cane seemed to meld into the body, becoming a part of it.
In fact, hidden under the white suit was a body with a terrifying power, beyond ordinary comprehension. But at this moment, it could not demonstrate its power. Under the red-hot gaze, it was like a leaf accidentally fallen into rapids, left with no choice but to drift along.
The red-hot beam lifted the creature in the white suit, and amidst struggles, it was launched into the pitch-black night. The red light seemed to lead straight to the end of days. The horrific impact sent it miles away, until it was finally thoroughly melted and crushed mid-air, vanishing into the night.
The beam disappeared, the red light in the girl's eyes faded. She turned around and gently landed beside the lifeless Jiang Bei, tilting her head as if lost in thought.
...
...
At fifteen past midnight.
Tang Wen stood in the midst of the battlefield that was left in ruins, his face filled with disbelief.
"Let me get this straight," he said, "You're telling me that an Extraordinary Being – probably one with the ability to fly – descended from the sky, solved our problem with N-2814 – a dangerous containment object above level three...
...And it all happened in an instant?"
The research team, all in white lab coats, exchanged uneasy glances.
"You're the team leader, Old Teng," Tang Wen pointed to one of them, "You've been in the research team for many years, you have a lot of experience, and you've always done a good job – otherwise, you wouldn't be the team leader.
So, with your wealth of professional experience, tell me... Is this plausible?"
Old Teng from the research team looked pained, "Uh...Sir, if you ask me whether this is plausible, I have to say it absolutely isn't.
The moment that thing landed, all monitoring signals were cut off, so we have no idea about the specifics. But all evidence left on the scene does point to this result – some Extraordinary Being descended from the sky, and in front of it, N-2814 was as helpless as a baby."
Tang Wen took a deep breath, "So, what you're saying is, we now have an unknown Extraordinary Being of level A?"
Old Teng was silent for a moment, then solemnly shook his head.
"No, Sir," he said, pausing between words, "Level A is an understatement."
